Adventures in Consumerism
Today was a big day at the mall. The first big trip we took as a family - how American of us huh? Really it was because our walking plans got foiled due to some rain.
Overall it went pretty well. Fin was a little cranky at first at our first stop - a hipster store that practically had a "No Strollers Allowed" sign in the door. He might have been startled by the loud music and groups of TV screens I think. I put him in the Baby Bijorn and walked around with him until he conked out and then joined back up with Byron in the store. (as an aside, Byron purchased a NEW shirt and NEW sweatshirt - I think now he has 5 things that aren't vintage) We walked around some more and conveniently, when he started to get hungry, we were in a Dept. Store near an empty unisex dressing room. There was a large changing room that the 3 of us could fit in with the stroller so we hung out there and nursed and then continued on our way. All in all we spent 4 hours there! The whole experience changes dramatically with an infant in a stroller. For one thing, you never realize how loud a mall is on a Saturday afternoon. Secondly, you look at how you are going to navigate the whole place differently. You have to make sure you are following the ramps and are always on the hunt for the elevators which you wait in line for. Yet another way having a baby makes you ssssllllloooowwww down!
Cradle crap is a total nightmare today.
